Mangoes

This last week at Publix had their Mangoes BOGO (buy one get one). So, I got 2 Mangoes for $1, which I didn’t think was a bad deal! My daughter loves Mangoes, she really loves any fruit. Since it is summer, and the weather is so HOT, I thought I would make a Mango Sorbet! Stay tuned!

Mango Sorbet
(You will need an ice cream maker.)
(If you don’t have one see end of recipe.)
Makes enough for at least 6 people!
4 Mangoes (or Frozen mango chunks about 4 cups)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 lime (or 2 TBSP Lime juice)
——————————————–
In small saucepan bring 1 cup water to a boil.
Stir in 1 cup sugar until dissolved.
Let mixture cool.
Peel and cut mangoes into chunks.
Place in food processor or blender until smooth.
With 4 mangoes I got about 2 1/2 cups of puree.
Add sugar mixture (Simple syrup), and lime juice to Mango puree.

Chill in fridge for about 1 hour or longer
Place mixture in ice cream maker and follow manufacturers instructions.

No ice cream maker option
Or place mixture in square pan.
Place in freezer, remove every hour and stir until set.
Store in plastic containers in freezer.

Two of my favorite taste testers have informed me that it is best served shared!

Makes a wonderful summer time dessert after any meal!
The kids love to watch the ice cream maker as well!
It may keep them busy while you clean up after dinner.
Perfect easy recipe for a learning chef!
Don’t be afraid to let the kids help make it!
Also, think outside the bowl.
Use other types of fruit.
You can even use frozen fruit!

  1. Now that really looks good. I will have to see if I can find some Mangos today when I go to Costcos……or another fruit to try this one out. My ice cream maker bowl has been sitting in the freezer (taking up space) waiting for something to be put in it. I’m thinking that this could be IT.

    Thanks for sharing.
