Mom Time Monday: What have you done for you lately?

by Amanda @ A Few Short Cuts on August 3, 2009

As moms, I think it is somehow genetically imprinted that from the moment we become pregnant, we only think of others.

It is odd, because our lives completely revolve around our children. If they don’t sleep, we don’t sleep. If they are worried about something, we pick up that worry. If they are hungry, we stop everything to find them something to eat. It goes on and on.

Mondays are going to be different. They are going to be dedicated to all you Moms around here. We are going to take a small chunk of time for ourselves on Mondays. Even if it is something small like taking 15 minutes to paint your fingernails.

We all need at least that to keep our own sanity! I know I have let my mom time go lately and I need to reclaim it. Are you with me?!

Plus, this is timed perfectly because football season starts soon!

Hadn’t thought about that had you?
I know, I know, it is a bit depressing.

Here is the plan!

  • Wait until the game, or pre-show coverage starts.
  • They are usually pretty distracted, right?
  • Get the kids busy doing an activity.
  • Then, walk through the room and say I am going to “insert your favorite place” I will be back in a little bit.
  • They won’t even know you are gone.
  • I recommend calling in like 15 minutes to make sure he does know he has the kids.
  • You are thinking,” He isn’t going to be happy if I leave him with the kids while the football game is on.”
  • Well, you are probably right, but how many times have you not been happy when he goes off to do his thing?
  • Exactly!
  • Well, this may not be a great idea if it is going to cause a problem between you and your hubby or with the kids, but if you can get away with it, go for it!

SO, this week is a brain storming week. I will post suggestions for Mom Time Monday weekly with an inspirational quote.

What would you like to see as a Mom Time Monday?

Let me know, I would love to hear from you!

Here is your quote this week,

“Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs… since the payment is pure love.”~Mildred B. Vermont
