Tide You Over Tuesday: Back to School French Toast

by Amanda @ A Few Short Cuts on August 18, 2009

It is that time of year when every one is looking for quick and easy solutions for Breakfast and Lunch. We also want the food we feed our kids to be healthy too! My kids absolutely, without a doubt, love french toast! I used to buy the French Toast Sticks, but they are made with real milk. That means my oldest can’t eat them. I have found that cooking with soy milk doesn’t effect the taste. It is probably healthier! Plus, Vanilla Soy milk makes things like Pancakes and French Toast taste better than with regular milk!

Here are a couple of other ideas for a quick breakfast for Back To School!

When I started making French Toast I thought it might be difficult. It is one of the easiest things to cook for breakfast. It is an everybody in the pool kind of dish! Just try and see.

Back to School French Toast
———————————-

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Sliced Bread
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon

———————————-

  • Heat large skillet or griddle on stove at medium heat
  • Whisk together Eggs, Milk, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Dip Bread in milk and Egg mix. Flip to coat both sides.
  • Place Bread on hot skillet.
  • Let cook 2 minutes each side
  • Serve with syrup or Powdered Sugar, or both.

Use soy milk, like I did, for the dairy free version.

Hope this Tide you Over until Thursday Morning when You get to see our Weekly Meal Deal!

My whole house is apparently ready to make it a theme this week. The littlest started saying,”Adios!” instead of ,”Bye”.
