Comment of the Day!

coupon ladyWe all have those days when nothing goes as planned.  You are tired, but no one wants to cooperate.  You want to crawl in bed,  but you have a sink full of dishes and kids that just won’t take care of themselves ( Where is that darn autopilot button? )

I had one of those days today.  I tried to clean the car out, but the little one “pretended” to drive.  Only to find out 4 hours later, trying to go to soccer practice, that she had turned the Hazards on.  How did I figure that out?  My battery was dead.  Then, that great idea I had of giving her that late afternoon nap so she wouldn’t be cranky at the park, backfired.  Since we didn’t make it to the park, she was full of energy and didn’t go to bed until 10:30!

So, now I am exhausted, trying to unwind.  I am wondering what I will make for Tide you Over Tuesday, if I even want to make it.  Then I get an email from Michelle (I Heart Publix).  She has fowarded me this great email from one of our readers.  Here it is!

I made the roast chicken from A Few Short Cuts and it was great!  The whole meal was put together from sale items from Publix either on sale this week or stockpiled from previous trips.  Here is the breakdown:

Roasted Chicken (.79/lb)            $3.44

Steamfresh Brussel Sprouts

(1/2 sale with .50/1 coupon)           .19

Uncle Bens Wild Rice

(BOGO $1.00/2 coupon)              .25

1/2 pk. Cole’s Garlic Bread

(BOGO .50/1 coupon)                  .20

Total:                                        $4.08

Add tax and actual cost is around $4.50 for the whole meal.  Four people ate and DH had leftovers for lunch the next day!  It is soooo cool when you stockpile enough sale goodies to have great meals so inexpensively.

Thanks for your site!  It has made my life so much easier.  I tell everyone who wants to try couponing to start with your sites because they are so clear and easy to follow.

That made my evening!  I know the email wasn’t ALL about me.  It was about Michelle too.  I love to hear that someone made and enjoyed one of my recipes.  That it actually live up to the “Meal Deal”!  So, now what to make for Tuesday???

Really quick, Notice that my lovely commenter used her stockpile to get her meal for less?!  That is the way to do it!  That is how I try to cook all the time.  I give you all the prices for that week, but you could almost always come out cheaper!  Hard to believe?  Try it! I want to give you guys ideas how to use all that food you have stockpiled!

I know I get in a rut sometimes and A Few Short Cuts gives me a reason to post something new weekly!  You guys are helping me stay motivated!

Please, email or comment!  I love to hear from my readers.  What they like.  What they don’t like, and what kind of stuff you guys want to see here!  Just tell me!
