How to Throw a Frugal Super Bowl Party

by Amanda @ A Few Short Cuts on January 31, 2010

The big day is creeping up quickly!  Super Bowl is next Sunday!  Everyone will be getting together, having parties, and enjoying the company of their friends and families while watching the big game.  We aren’t having company, but we make it a family event.  We have snacks, decorate, and make it a big deal for the kids.  If you are like us and don’t have a lot to spend, but want to throw a great Super Bowl Party here are some great tips.

  • Hit the Dollar Store.  The Dollar store is a great place to get Blue & White or Black & Gold Plates, napkins, and steamers for just a dollar.  You can also find little party favors for the kids.  The dollar store is a great resource for any party on a budget.  Why pay three times as much at the party store.
  • Get the Kids Involved. Let them make decorations.  Give them this football printable to color and cut out.  You can hang them up for decorations.  Another great idea is to let the vote on the commercials.  Which ones were their favorite.  Kids are also great helpers in the kitchen.  Let them help put some snacks together.
  • Great Snacks on a Budget. It is easy to match the grocery store deals with coupons and rebates for your Super Bowl Party.  If you are having guests, ask everyone to bring a dish.  This will cut back on your prep time and cost. Here are some great food ideas for this years party.
  1. Meatball Subs
  2. Carmel Corn Chex Mix
  3. Spinach Artichoke Dip
  4. Boneless Chicken Wings
  5. Muddy Buddies
  6. Fiesta Nachos with Guacamole
  • Relax.  It never fails.  If you are just partying with your family, or with guest you feel the need to jump up and wait on everyone.  You want to make sure everything is perfect, and you forget to enjoy the festivities yourself.  Relax.  Sit back and just enjoy the Super Bowl, or commercials.  Have fun with your family, because that is what it is all about. The details will take care of themselves.

Hope everyone enjoys the game!  I know I can’t wait to see the commercials! If you have any other great tips feel free to comment below! I would love to hear them!
