What’s In The Bible Review and Giveaway

I love offering giveaways.  What I love even more are giveaways that my family and I truly enjoy!  This is one of those.  What’s in the Bible is a new DVD series from the creator of Veggie Tales.  You know Veggie Tales, and if you don’t shame on you!  Phil Vischer, the creator of Veggie Tales and What’s in the Bible is on a mission to educate not only children but adults about the Bible.

Quick Message From Phil Vischer

What about the Kids.

This series is educational (Don’t tell the kids)  If you have a Bible in your house, you will want your kids to watch this series.  It brings the Bible to life in a whole new way!   My kids have watched this three time since it arrived last week.  Yes, 3!  I have watched bits and pieces until tonight.  I finally sat down and watched the full 2 hours (It’s 2 DVD’s Worth).  After a bag of popcorn, half a pack of Twizzlers, and tons of laughs, I interviewed my kids for this review. Why? Because this is a kids series and who better to tell you about it than my children.

What Mom thought.

Now, from a Mom’s perspective it is fabulous! It truly teaches your children more information about the Bible in 1 hour than you could try to get them to learn in a month of Sunday School.  It is something that I would enjoy watching again.  I feel safe letting my kids watch over and over, and you know they will want to.  It is also broken into segments.  Each DVD includes two 25 to 30-minute episodes that each answer a different question about the Bible, such as:

  • Where did the Bible come from?
  • How did we get it?
  • Who wrote it?
  • How do we know we can trust it?
  • How do all the different books come together to tell one key story?

This allows you to control the amount of TV time your children have.  This DVD appealed to all of my kids 2-9.  It kept the two older ones a little more entertained than the baby.  I would have to say ages 3 or 4 and up on this one.  Just for attention span purposes.

This is going to be an amazingly interactive series.  Phil Vischer realizes that the world we live in today is technological.  That is why WhatsintheBible.com has already been set up.  You can also fan What’s in the Bible on Facebook and Twitter.  That’s not all!  There is a interactive children’s site called JellyTelly.com! It is for kids to learn more about the stories and characters they meet in the What’s In the Bible Series.

I am most excited about using this tool to teach my son about the Bible in a fun, entertaining way. He loves Veggietales, but he’s getting older, so this mightbe more effective now.

I became a FB fan, followed both on Twitter and “tweeted”.

What excites me about this series is that it will feed my daughter’s hunger for learning. She LOVES Bible reading time, and this will just bring it more alive. Even if I don’t win, it will be joining our DVD library…which has tons of VeggieTales. Knowing it’s from the VT folks assures me of the quality and worth of this. Thanks for introducing it to me!

What excites me most about this is how it makes the stories in the Bible accessible and relevant to children of this technology driven generation. I like its interactivity and that the creator also created Veggie Tales :)
