Tide You Over Tuesday: Kiddie Snack Mix

Tide You Over Tuesday is out of necessity this week.  When Soccer season starts at my house it is like a three ring circus.  We usually eat out of the crockpot and have a little bag full of snacks to take with us.  The kids always want a snack at practice or a game.  I don’t want to take a ton of sugary snacks with me.  That isn’t what I want to feed my tribe. :) I forgot snacks at practice last night and was nagged to death for an hour and a half!

Today I am remedying that problem.  The kids and I made snack mix.  It is so simple!  Some of you may already do this, but it is a great activity for kids big and small.  They can make the mix the way they want so no one is picking out little pieces saying, “I don’t like this kind of nut!” You have been there. You know what I am talking about. :)

Here is what we used.

A Little bit of everything.

  • Cereal
  • Pretzels
  • Nuts
  • Raisins
  • Dried Fruit
  • Cookies
  • You could even add some chocolate chips or M&M’s

Let the kids create their own mix.

This is the fun of the whole project.  They are the Chef!

When they are done; package their creations in individual baggies to grab on the go!

This is also perfect for those with children who suffer from allergies.  You are now in control of what you put in your mix.  You know the ingredients, and the equipment it was processed on  (You kids hands).  We used gluten free pretzels and animal crackers for my sons mix!
