When I think of making money cleaning out my junk the first thing that comes to mind is a yard sale. I don’t know about you, but the thought of having to wake up early in the morning (on a weekend) to set my stuff out in my driveway, just so others can come haggle about what my things are worth does not sound appealing!
So, I am here to show you a new way to get some money for your unwanted items.
Cleaning out the Junk
This is the worst part. Not only going through your items but your children’s’ to decide what you want to get rid of. If it is like my house it is long overdue! I suggest cleaning out the kids items when they are not around. You know what they play with. You know how much you want to keep. You know how much they will scream!
I also have another quick tip if you have too many toys lying around. Get a couple of those really big plastic storage bins, and fill them up with toys. Put them in the garage for a couple months. Then, bring them in and it is like Christmas all over again. Now, refill the bins with new toys and put them back in the garage. Continue rotating bins every couple months. This way your kids don’t have to get rid of their toys, and you can have your house back. YAY MOM!
That being said, my house is still over run with toys! I have three kids. It’s horrible! I just need to get rid of some! HELP!
Sorting
Once you have a big pile of junk collection of your belongings. Decide what is worth trying to sell.
- Do the toys have their pieces?
- Are the clothes stained?
- Is the whole set there?
- Is it still relatively in style?
Of course you will want to trash what is of no value. Now comes the fun part.
Consignment
Do you have a great consignment shop close by? If so, these can be an amazing asset! Call them up and set up an appointment. Take in your gently used items. Some consignment shops will pay you up front. Others will wait until your items sell. Every shop is different and has different policies. This is a great way to give the selling hassle on to someone else!
Want to find out how to sell items on your own, without having a yard sale?
Come back tomorrow for part 2 of How to Make Money Spring Cleaning!

Oy. You just reminded me that I really need to have a yard sale. I don’t mind them…it’s just getting the motivation to take something like that on. And if you could see my garage…well, let’s just say it’s best that you can’t
