Ok, so I am working feverishly behind the scenes to get posts scheduled for you guys while I am gone. For those of you who don’t know I am leaving for Baking with Betty this weekend. I fly out super early Monday, and should be back home to tell you all about my adventures Wednesday afternoon!
I know a lot of you work, have families, and juggle all kinds of things in your own lives. I am really struggling to juggle it all! I love sharing my tips and recipes with you, but much to my surprise and excitement…it’s turning into a job. One that I am loving, of course!
So, my question to you is , “How do you do it?” How do you find time to balance work, family, and relaxation? What things do you put on a back burner for another day? What tricks have you learned to keep your sanity? I would love to hear your thoughts & Shortcuts!

What is sanity? Did you see my “far from perfect” post and my messy pantry? Scary.
We are trying to establish a routine now that school has started. Once they are off, I come home, start some household chores and sit down to blog, with my coffee. I multitask a lot while the kids are in school. When they get home it’s homework time and I work on dinner. At night I try to read before bed to help relax.
I’d love to hear how other people juggle it all.
Amanda, what is relaxation? I am an EXTRA FULL TIME working mom. To add to the EXTRA time, I was just promoted to interim nurse manager of an outpatient surgery center and pre-admission testing. My work has been going in at 5:30 am and leaving at 7:30 pm. This is hard with school starting back. I also blog at alicesapron.com, which I must say has just become a weekend thing. At least I get the “Sweet Sunday” post up each weekend. I also follow several blogs and shop at publix weekly. Getting the grocery list and coupons together is I guess my relaxation. It’s what I do to have fun. Thank goodness for a husband who takes super great care of the kids after his job, unloads and loads the dishwasher, washes and folds clothes. Thank goodness for a super mom who helps both of us pick the kids up from school, helps with homework and is willing to keep my children well into the evening and feed them supper if needed. It’s a juggle but I know you and you WILL get it all worked out. Congrats on getting to cook with “Betty”! Can’t wait to hear about your experience. Alice
Even as a SAHM I feel there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done. I have to say things like mopping the floors gets put on the back burner.
Once school starts again I should be able to get back into somewhat of a normal routine.
For me, it’s all about getting what I can done for the next day the night before. Since it’s summer (well, school starts Monday) I get my boy’s lunches together the night before. For the baby, I get his bottles ready. For me, I make sure the coffee is set so I can walk into the kitchen and press “on” then go off and take my shower, fresh coffee waiting for later. I do a “good” cleaning every other Sunday and the kids dust their own rooms, this gives me one weekend to not worry about that. It’s still tiresome but I seem to find an hour or so to enjoy a good book or a movie with the hubs each night. I’ve also begun to tell myself that if it didn’t get done today, I’ll try again tomorrow. I’m the queen of making lists, or I’ll simply forget! I try to plan a week’s worth of meals and hit the store for all of it, only going back for fresh items I might need….
Days can be challenging, I am a full-time working mom who has been traveling a lot more for work than I like. I have a wonderful husband that steps up to the plate when I am out of town, he even uses his vacation days from work to make the days easier for the kids. I try to get as much done the few days before I leave and well as have meals ready for the kids. Its a balancing act, but I love my job and I love my family, so we make it work.
There are somethings we just do not have the time to do, like clean the house. I am very frugal with our money but I feel it is so worth it, so I have someone do that for us, that is a lifesaver! You have to let go control of somethings. We are “Super Moms” but we cannot do it all!
Most days are CRAZY that is for sure!! Here I had settled myself in to being grandma my kids are grown having kids of their own. Then one day I met a wonderful man who is now my husband. Along with him comes a wonderful little girl (7 at the time) 12 now. And here we go again school, choir, skating lessons, swimming, camp, sleep overs and all the other wonderfull things that come along with little girls. But wow can it get exhausting! What I do to try and stay ahead of the game a little is start my day at 4am. I’ve always been a morning person so that is not a problem for me. I am finding the older I get the harder it is to stay up at night-LOL! Trying my hand at this blog has been very challenging, honestly I did not know much more than checking my email when it came to computers.
