“Snack”urday: Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies

by Amanda @ A Few Short Cuts on September 17, 2010

I don’t mean to brag, but I have had a great day today!  The kids were well behaved.  I blogged, hit up Publix, and even Petsmart.  Now, I want some chocolate.

As many of you have done, I bought 5 packs of Philly Cream Cheese today with that fabulous $5/5 Kraft Cheese Products coupon.  I paid just $0.25 each.  Now, I am thinking of all the wonderful, gooey things I could make….but today it needed chocolate.

Since the kids were so good, I told them they could have a treat.  It was unanimous….BROWNIES!  I decided to be a good little baker and tie the two together.  Now, check out these super easy Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies.

Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies

Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies Printable Version

· 1 box of your favorite Brownie Mix ( I used gluten free Betty Crocker)

· 1 8 oz package of Cream Cheese Softened

· 1 egg

· 1/3 cup sugar

· 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 ? F.

Line a square 8×8 pan with aluminum foil.

Follow the directions on the brownie mix box and prepare the batter. (let sit in bowl)

008

In a separate bowl beat together cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla.

009

Now place 2/3 of the brownie batter in the 8×8 pan.

012

Then spread the cream cheese batter evenly over the top.

014

Spoon the remaining brownie batter in different locations over the cream cheese. Take a butter knife and swirl together; without over mixing.

015 017 018

Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick in the center comes out clean.

Cool before cutting.

I am having a problem with this part!  These literally just came out of the oven, and I am ready to eat them NOW! :)

Do you come up with ALL your recipes on your own or do you get them from cookbooks, online, etc? I notice you never credit where the recipes comes from…just curious!

Nancy,

I am a huge collector of cookbooks! I sometimes will get ideas from cookbooks, online, or just family recipes. I usually change them around a bit. If I copy a recipe ingredient for ingredient, I do give credit. :)

Thanks for this recipe. I used to make a boxed version a long time ago. When you posted it at IHP, I made it that next day for our Mom’s Homeschool Mtg. It was so so good.
