My heart goes out to all of those affected by the massive tornado outbreak yesterday.  While I don’t have the financial means to donate cash, like many of you.  We can get free items at local stores and donate them to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and local shelters & churches.

Here are some lists that you can find items that are free after coupons

My friend Kristin, from Couponing to Disney lives in the affected area.  She has helped coordinate a donation location at her church.

They will gladly take anything that you are willing to send. Here is a list of basics…

Here are a few things that they are in need of:

toothpaste
toothbrushes
shampoo
conditioner
soap
deodorant
dishwashing soap
laundry detergent
hand sanitizer
clothing in all sizes
shoes in all sizes
blankets
small toys for displaced children
ziploc bags
bandaids and other first aid products
femine products
baby formula
diapers
baby food
toilet paper
Kleenex

etc

You can mail your donations to Kristin’s church. They will ensure they get into the right hands. You have my personal guarantee that all donations will be distributed:

I appreciate you posting this. I live an hour south of Tuscaloosa, AL and 2 hours south of Birmingham,AL , with family and friends in both areas. So far all are ok. My husband and I are volunteering there this weekend to help with the clean up. If anyone can donate it would be greatly appreciated. These areas are completely devasted. Other places were greatly hit also. Cullman and Guntersville Alabama were hit hard too along with others. Thanks to those who choose to do so. Please pray for these families.

  3. I want to thank you for posting this as I live in NW Ga right where the tornado’s were hit the hardest. This means alot as we are all devastated here w/o homes and shelter being scarce. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for this post. I live in Montgomery, AL, which thankfully was spared. However, one county north has a lot of damage, including loss of lives. It is so wonderful to know that there are others out there supporting our state. (National media coverage if beyond frustrating right now…so much about the royal wedding and little mention given to the loss of Americans.) The people of Alabama are strong and will clean-up and move on from these disasters. Thank you again for your support and for guiding others to ways to support, too!

Thanks again for this post. Went for a 9 hour shift in Tuscaloosa today of volunteering and they still need volunteers to help sort and distribute the donations to different shelters and places that need them. If you live anywhere near a place hit in any state please give your time and volunteer if you can not afford to donate anything else. It is appreciated just as much if not more than the donations itself. Planning on going back in a few days.
