How to Save on Ink

I had a great question via email the other day asking me how to change a printers settings to save on ink.  It is very simple.

You are going to want to go to the control panel on your computer and select your printer from Printers & Devices.

You should see a window that looks like this.  You will want to click on the color tab.

You then want to change the settings to PRINT in grayscale.  Then make sure you click BLACK INK ONLY.

This will really help when you are printing coupons by printing them only in black ink, saving you on ink costs.  If you can it is a great investment to get a laser printer for printing coupons.  The ink goes much much further!

  1. Hi, you can also change the size of what comes out of the printer to 50%, for example. You also do this in Printer settings. You can change it right before you expect to print a lot of coupons, and then change it back when you are finished. The cashiers don’t mind as the computers/registers don’t have a problem reading them. I also change the print quality to ‘draft’ so it doesn’t use as much ink!
