Does Gardening Save You Money?

I love planting a Spring Garden.  Not only do I teach my kids how to grow their own produce, but I know how they are grown.  Plus, I am contributing to our budget by saving money on produce!  I always wondered what to plant for the best value. My husband found this great list of the highest value vegetables per square foot.

  • Cilantro $ 21.20
  • Arugula-Roquette $ 20.92
  • Green Salad Mix $ 17.55
  • Chives $ 16.40
  • Dill $ 16.40
  • Lettuce $ 16.20
  • Tomato, Cherry, small & medium $ 15.57
  • Turnip $ 9.90
  • Tomato, large $ 9.50

I am getting prepared to start my garden this year, and I am glad to see many things I am going to plant on this list.  Helps me know I am getting the biggest bang for my buck.
