How to Save on Lunch Meat

050

I have three kids and a husband that eat a lot of food. Sandwiches are a lunchtime staple at my house. So much so, that we go through quite a bit of lunch meat. Buying lunchmeat pre-sliced from the deli or packaged will cost you on average $5-$6 a pound.  Buy a couple pounds a week and that can add up fast!

Not too long ago I got this handy food slicer from one of the daily deal sites when they had a kitchen sale.  Now my kitchen is small, and I almost didn’t get it because I had no idea where I would store it.  (It has found a nice home in the basement when it isn’t in use).  I am so glad I bought this!

I have discovered the secret to affordable lunches! Did you know that most grocery stores sell these wonderful whole boneless hams.  I got this 5 lb Farmland Ham for just $1.99 lb on sale this week. Compared to $6 lb for pre-sliced! That is a $4 savings!

I brought it home and sliced it on my food slicer.  You could slice it fresh for each sandwich, but it is more convenient for me to slice a couple pounds at a time. The other great perk is you can slice it to your desired thickness.

You can also find other lunch meat packaged this way;  Turkey, Roast Beef etc. It is worth it if you have kids at home and go through a lot of lunch meat, cheese, and more.  It will really help you stretch your budget!
