I have three beautiful children who are all going to school this year. I am normally very organized and ahead of schedule when it comes to back to school supplies. I stock up when items go on clearance and have many things on hand when the time comes. Well, this year I am out there less than a week before school, fighting my way to snag the last pack of pencils at Target. Yep, I was using my short stature to my advantage and sneaking in between carts to snag the last pack of pencils. Unfortunately my 3 kids did witness this, but I got a ton of, “Woo Hoo Mom”s, so I guess they approve.
I know there are a ton of back to school coupons out this year. Heck, I have been posting freebies and great deals left and right. We have been so busy that I am not sure exactly where I put those coupons, and I didn’t have time to organize my trip. I seriously walked into Target without a single coupon. ~gasp~ I will gasp with you! I did practice smart shopping and bought only the items on my list, looked for the lowest prices, etc. I thought my son was going to go into shock when we got to the check out and he said, “Mom, where are you coupons?” When I told him I didn’t have any, the kids went into a huddle. “Holy cow! Mom doesn’t have any coupons!!!”
I know I could have probably saved more, but I am so relieved to have their back to school shopping finished I don’t even care. I save so much all year long by clipping coupons, watching sales, and more. I feel like to save a little bit of my sanity was worth the few extra dollars I spent today. Do you ever take a savings break, do you feel like it is worth it?

Yes! When we went on our short vacation I took my coupons with me. However, we went to Florida where they don’t double coupons. I just couldn’t bring myself to waste my 75cents off, etc when I could get $1.50 off later at home. I had a moment of guilt(I do it to myself). Then, it passed, the kids got some vacation goodies and all was well.
And yes, I had to buy a handfull of school supplies and did NOT go to Staples armed w/any of my coupons. I was at Walmart and just decided to get ‘er done!
Oh, SOOOO worth it! And sometimes, when I plan to use coupons and the item is out, so I find a better bargain, it makes me do the superior dance. I admit it — I’m a dork. I also bought just TWO school supplies this year — a pack of index cards, and some spiral notebooks. Seriously. I got cheap/frees last year and throughout the year, and traded in binders at Staples for new ones. But I realized I had a few graph paper spirals somehow. !? Got away with about $1.50 in damage. Not bad.
