I think at some point in our lives we struggle with becoming healthier. In July I knew that I needed to make a change. I was spending way to much time on the computer and with the kids, but I wasn’t taking time for myself and it was beginning to show. I needed to live better and make more time for myself. I needed to make time to exercise, eat healthier, and just take care of myself. That is a hard revelation for any mom to make. We focus so much on caring for our children that it becomes difficult to put ourselves first.
I started to set time aside to exercise more. I started small, running 1 mile about 4 times a week. I am now up to 3 miles, 4 days a week. I also added in strength training, and felt incredibly blessed when I won a Core Body Reformer. It has really helped me kick my workout up a notch. I feel stronger, and overall better about myself now that I have begun this journey. Plus, I have lost about 10 lbs so far!
It is amazing to me that you don’t realize how food effects you until you begin to cut certain foods out of your diet. I love food don’t get me wrong, but trying to transform my body I began to eat healthier. I cut out sugars, excess bread, and just junk food overall. I try not to eat anything processed. Plus, I drink a ton of water. There are however moments of weakness. You know the ones, We all have them. Those times when you catch a whiff of french fries or see that cheesecake in the window and you just can’t resist sneaking a bite. I now have a unique problem, my body doesn’t agree with junk food now. It literally makes me feel BLAH. It totally wipes me out for the day. I would rather eat a bowl of fruit than a piece of cake. Not only is it better for me, but my body feels so much better.
A huge added bonus in my trying to be better is the impact it has had on my children. My 4 year old now wants to work out with me. My oldest daughter goes for fruit before a cookie now, and my son…well, at least he is grabbing a bag of Way Better Snacks instead of regular potato chips. By the way, I love that I can now reach for my Way Better Snacks and still get the same salty crunchy fix without felling like I am eating junk food.
