Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Treats

I love getting my kids involved in the kitchen.  I want them to grow up knowing how to prepare their own food (Not that they have too right now) and learning kitchen basics.  So I turned this weeks treat over to them to concoct and create.  My son took the reigns because he is going through a Peanut Butter and Chocolate phase.  If it has Peanut Butter and Chocolate we are good. PERIOD. Dessert could have been a bowl of peanut butter with chocolate chips and he would have been one happy kid.  So I sent him to google.  Another new favorite past-time.  He came back with these treats.

After dinner we gathered all of the ingredients and every halloween sprinkle we own.  I mean, it has to have sprinkles to be yummy! :)  Since there is a little bit of cooking involved I let my 11 year old work on that while I watched and the decorating and greasing the pan we turned over to the smaller ones. The original recipe for these treats called for A LOT of sugar.  We cut that back a bit and these are still very sweet. Just a reminder that you will want to cut these bars a little smaller.  These were the perfect weekend treat.  The kids had a blast in the kitchen, we all had some peanut buttery yummy goodness for dessert, and made memories to last a lifetime!

Notes
**Gluten Free** Use Gluten Free Rice Krispies **Dairy Free** Use a dairy free chocolate chip (like ghirardelli)

We used the Gluten Free Rice Krispies for our treats. I think they would be good as just peanut butter treats without the chocolate spread, but chocolate makes everything better!

The peanut butter and the chocolate melt together nicely.  Just remember to do this over low heat.  We are talking a 1 or 2. Otherwise the chocolate can seize up and that wouldn’t turn out so yummy.

These are so delicious! Serve them at any Fall or Halloween party to be the most popular person in the room!
