Eating healthy is near and dear to my heart. Don’t get me wrong. I love the occasional treat, but on a day to day basis my job is to take care of my body. It is the only one I am going to get after all.
Unfortunately in my family I have heart disease coming at me from two directions. My Abuela (Dad’s Mom) died when I was just an infant due to heart problems, and my Pappy (Mom’s Dad) also had chronic heart issues that eventually led to his passing. My job is to make sure that my family takes care of their hearts by eating right and excising. You are what you eat!
Getting my kids to eat certain items can be a chore. Once we get past food allergies and pickiness there is one thing they can all agree on. They LOVE LOVE LOVE V8 Fusion juice. I love it because I can sneak in a serving a fruit of veggies without them even noticing, or caring. They each have a favorite flavor: Strawberry Banana, Pomegranate Blueberry, and Acai Mixed Berry.
Since heart health is so important to many, Campbell’s is asking people to share how they care for their heart with others as part of the Campbell’s Address Your Heart Kitchen Project for a chance to win a $50,000 kitchen makeover.
Here is my submission…
I can for my heart and my kids by eating our fruits and veggies, and making sure we get our exercise several times a week. It is more fun and more enticing when we work out together by going for walks, playing the xbox, or kicking the soccer ball around.
