We left Paducah, KY early Friday morning. We planned on heading to Macon, GA for Friday Night. Oh had we only known what kind of day we were in store for! When we left Kentucky it rained on us through Tennessee. I can handle driving in rain, I am just not a fan of the curvy mountainous roads through Tennessee.
We made it through and into Georgia. I knew that this last leg of the trip would be a piece of cake. It was until we got about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. Then brake lights…..many many brake lights. A sign above the road read traffic congestion due to Spring Break traffic on 1-75. I was still optimistic that it wouldn’t be that bad.
I was so wrong. Over 3 hours. That is how long it took us to get through Atlanta. By the time we got to the hotel in Macon GA it was 9 PM. We had been in the car for 12 hours. We were so exhausted that we were knocked out when we hit the pillow. Just one more day of travel.
Saturday was very uneventful, and I was so glad! We left Macon bright and early and headed for Palm Coast, FL. We hit a little traffic, but nothing like Atlanta. We stopped to use the restroom and saw this sign. LOL I knew we were almost home! We got in just in time to relax and enjoy dinner.
Today (Easter Sunday) we hit the beach. The kids stretched their legs, and played in the surf. It was so nice to get some sun and just enjoy the beautiful weather. Tomorrow we get the keys to the house and start to unload the truck. I am not looking forward to emptying all those boxes.
