I love getting the kids out of the house just to do something fun. Something fun doesn’t always mean a park or playground. This week the kids and I popped into Best Buy to look around. They love checking out all the new gadgets, and so do I. I do so much of my shopping online, I forget how nice it is to go into a store and see things hands on. We were lucky and our store in Daytona has the intel Experience set up.
Did you know 79% of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, but half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna. I can totally relate to that. It is so nice to walk into Best Buy and to be able to try out the newest electronics before you buy them.
Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about.
My kids took full advantage of this. My son fell in love with this 3D printer and make a robot station. Somehow, a 3D printer has now ended up on his Christmas list. I have a feeling he is going to have to wait awhile for that one. How amazing that they had one out for the kids to see, play with, and get a feel for.
Averaging 240 square feet, the Intel Technology Experience will show customers the power of Intel: the technology behind these new, innovative activities is the same power behind the devices like tablets and laptops we love and rely on every day. Not only did they have the 3 D printer but they had this amazing Mars Rover station set up!
Using the tablets camera the kids got to play a game. It was a video game but used real world elements shot by the camera. I am pretty sure I had to drag them away because they were having so much fun!
While they were playing, I was checking out the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors. It’s amazing how quickly new technologies come out! We are definitely going to have to go back soon. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences. I can’t wait to see what is next!
