Oh…this “Snack”urday is so simple yet so stinkin’ delicious! I have been working on and off with Betty Crocker. Even just typing that sentence makes me grin! Tee Hee…I work with Betty Crocker! Crazy! ~giggles~ Anyway, they sent me a ton of great recipes this last week to try!
One of those recipes happens to be this Reindeer food, and they sent me the craft stuff to make this cute bucket to put it in! This is such a great thing to get the kids in the kitchen! I was super excited because it was made with Chex and they are Gluten Free! The original recipe calls for White Chocolate Chips (which have dairy), so I made another batch with Ghiradelli Semi Sweet Chips. Both batches are amazing!
Here are the directions for this super simple recipe!
- 6 cups rice chex
- 1 bag white chocolate chips
- 14 mini candy canes crushed (or 4 large candy canes)
Line a large baking sheet with wax paper
In a large bowl measure out chex mix.
In a separate microwave safe bowl dump in the chocolate chips and microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until chips are melted and can be stirred easily!
Mix in half of the crushed candy canes into the chocolate.
Pour the chocolate mix over the cereal and toss until coated.
Pour coated cereal on to baking sheet and spread out evenly.
Top with remaining crushed candy canes and let sit for about 20 minutes until set. (I popped mine into the freezer for 5 minute’s…we are impatient!)
Break into pieces and enjoy!
Did you notice the reindeer antlers are my babies handprints cut out of felt! How sweet its that?!
