Halloween Treat: Blue Slime

by Amanda @ A Few Short Cuts on October 2, 2009

DSCN1998After being nagged to death since Tuesday….yep….I lasted 4 days.    We went to CVS today and bought Monsters VS. Aliens.  Why CVS?   They had a great deal this week.  Buy $20 worth of Hersheys and Coke and get $15 off the movie! Pair that with a $5/$25 coupon and you have a super deal!

I have known for awhile that I wanted to do a series of Halloween Treat posts.  I just wasn’t sure how to go about it.  I am going to make it separate from everything else.  Tomorrow will be Snackurday, but it is also soccer day, so don’t expect it until the afternoon.

In the mean time pop a bag of popcorn, make some Blue Slime and watch Monsters VS Aliens (which by the way was really cute!)

Blue Slime

  • (1) 6oz pkg. Large Blue Jello {I used 2 small packs}
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 3 cups Lemonade, chilled
  • 3 cups Sprite, chilledDSCN1974

Directions

In large bowl, combine jello and the boiling water; stir until jello dissolves….you all know the drill.DSCN1975

Stir in the cold water. Cover and Chill for about 3-4 hours until the jello is almost set.DSCN1979

Now…Stir Jello with large spoon or fork until it is broken up into small pieces.

In a Clear glass {So that you can see it is blue}, pour 1/4 cup of lemonade.DSCN1986

Add 1/2 cup of the Jello.DSCN1991

Then, slowly pour in 1/4-1/2 cup sprite.  Stir Gently.DSCN1993

The jello will try to settle, but half the fun is letting the kids blow bubbles in their straws to mix it up.

The entire drink turns blue.  I thought this was perfect for with this movie because one of the monsters is made out of Blue Jello.   My daughter says it was delicious.  The jello gives it that slimy texture.  Kids love that kind of gross stuff!  This would even be fun for a party.  Don’t mix until you put in glasses,  because the “Slime” has a tendency to settle!

There will be more ghoulish recipes to come! Keep reading!
