We all had that one special toy growing up. For my kids that is LEGOS. LEGOS are THE GOLDEN TOY in my house! They are the one toy that I know my kids will play with.
If it is raining?…LEGOS.
Too Hot or Cold outside?…LEGOS.
“Mom I don’t feel good. I am going to play LEGOS.”
“I’m done with my school work.” Then quickly disappears to play LEGOS
Then there are those
stupid darn LEGO review videos on Youtube, because if you can’t play with them…watch someone else playing with them. LOL
My son loves LEGO anything, and when he found out there were rare Gold LEGO Minifigures he flipped! Finally Mom wins a point for knowing something LEGO that he didn’t know. Know I am not going to spend hundreds or thousands so he can have a gold LEGO Minifigure, but I can sure make our own.
What you will need
We took some older LEGO minifigures that he wasn’t too concerned if this got messed up. THIS TOOK FOREVER! I would have been better off buying some cheap minifigures from Amazon.
Take an old piece of cardboard or find a surface that is ok to paint on. Get out the Gold Spray Paint and lightly coat the mini figures. I used this Attachable Spray Paint Gun. It makes life easier. Then after you have painted moved the arms and legs around. Do another coat. These will dry fast because they are so small.
A Few Shortcuts
- Don’t spray too close or the paint will run.
- Let each coat dry before adding another coat.
- You can completely disassemble the minifigures and paint that way. Just be careful not to paint the connections too much or they may not fit back together properly.
Now what can you do with rare Gold Lego Minifigures? Well first of all they just look flipping awesome! However you can turn these into all kinds of fun crafts and decor like…
- Several around a picture frame (like this)
- Charms for bracelets
- Fridge Magnets
- Wall art
- Trophy for best lego creation
This is such a fun way to dress up a childhood classic. I would love to hear what fun ideas you come up with for these Gold LEGO Minifigures. Share in the comments below.
