Weekly Meal Deal: Memorial Day Party on a Budget!

I couldn’t resist!  The deals are so amazing this week I had to show you guys how to throw a low budget party!

I know a lot of you are having guests over for Memorial Day.  Family coming in to town, friends coming over.  Why not surprise them with how inexpensively you can throw a party?  Plus, with little effort involved!

I love having people over.  My only complaint is that I feel I spend more time prepping and in the kitchen than I do enjoying my own party.  Well, I think this time I have taken care of that.  This party menu has little or no prep! I love it!  The main dish is in the crockpot! The sides, are mostly ready to go!  I have even included the drinks!

Kids??  You know that I am totally kid friendly!  There are separate menu items for them too!  That being said.  You can have a party with 6 Adults and all the kids that come along with, for $2.33 Per person!  That is assuming you are feeding 6 adults and 6 children.  Plus, you will have extras if you have more kiddos!

This meal is easily expandable too, if you are expecting more people!  You may even want to keep this meal under your sleeve for the Fourth of July since it is coming up quickly!

Here is the Main Dish!

Crockpot BBQ Country Style Ribs

Crockpot BBQ Country Style Ribs Printable Version

  • 2 to 3 pounds pork country-style ribs
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 8 ounces cola — Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc.

Don't panic! I don't make it a habit to keep Caffine Free soda in the house. I need my caffine most days! :)

Directions:

Combine ketchup and cola. Whisk together well.

Place country-style pork ribs in slow cooker.

Pour cola mixture over ribs.

Cover and cook 2 hours on HIGH then cook for 3 to 4 hours on LOW.  Baste occasionally if desired.

Serves 6 to 8.

Since this was just our dinner, and not a party dish, I made green beans!

Sides

On the sides menu it is all quick and easy

  • Deli Potato Salad
  • Corn on the cob (If you are having lots of guests, cut the ears of corn in half. They go further :) )
  • Bushes baked beans ( I like the new Steakhouse Grillin Beans! )

Kids Menu

I know all too well that kids don’t always like the same foods adults do!  So this time we have a separate menu for the kiddies! All kids love hot dogs, and they are quick and easy to prepare!

  • Hot Dogs
  • Chips
  • Sodas
  • Adult Sides if desired

I also found a site that recommended browing in a 400 degree oven for 15 min. on each side (coat with salt, pepper, & garlic powder before placing in pre-heated oven). Going to try that too!
