DIY Oatmeal Canister Gift Box
Recycle and Reuse those Oatmeal Canisters and turn them into these adorable DIY Gift Boxes that are perfect for giving Christmas cookies and so much more in!
This project is so so simple, and yet, incredibly adorable! These DIY Oatmeal Canister Gift Boxes re-purpose something that would have gone into the trash and turn them into a special little gift! I am loving these for giving cookies and baked goods this Christmas, but you could use any type of paper and really fill them with anything you choose!
You Will Need
- Empty Oatmeal Canister
- Wrapping Paper of your choice
- Scissors
- Tape
- String or Ribbon
- pin/large sewing needle
- Button
- Gift Tag
Start by cutting your wrapping paper and wrapping the large part of the canister. I used tape, you could also use spray adhesive…totally up to you.
You are now going to cut out 2 circle of wrapping paper the same size as the lid.
I glued one down on the bottom of the canister to finish it off nicely.
The other fit right in the lid. I did use a bit of glue to hold it down.
Now I wanted my lid to have a pull string, but I wanted to make it sturdy. Take a pin, or even better a large sewing needle and poke 2 holes in the lid close together to thread your string in with. Thread your string through 1 hole, and on the backside thread a button. This helps reinforce the cardboard lid while you are pulling on the string to open your canister. Thread the string back through the other hole. On the outside tie on a gift tag or just tie your thread together to make a pull.
THAT IS IT! How cute is this!!!
You can fill these with so many fun little gifts, homemade treats and more. The best part is these are reusable. The kids and I have already made several for our Christmas cookies this year! They were just too much fun not to share with you!
