Back to School Lunch Box Hacks
Use Straws for Applesauce & Yogurt
Kids love fun new ways of doing things. I cut some paper straws in half and keep them in the drawer. Just pack one with your child’s favorite Mott’s Applesauce or yogurt. The applesauce or yogurt can be eaten with the straw. Not only is it fun, but it helps prevent spills at lunch.
Simple Lunch Box Notes
Lunch box notes are a must at my house. I love to include them so my kids know I am thinking about them. There are a ton of free printable lunch box notes available, but I like to keep it simple. I have some star shaped sticky notes that I keep with the lunch supplies. I just jot down a quick note and stick it right on their sandwich or applesauce cup while I am packing. Thoughtful doesn’t have to take a ton of effort.
Assembly Line
One of my favorite lunch box hacks is the assembly line. Pull out those brown paper bags and pre-pack a few days worth of lunches at once. This is so practical to do when you have the time. In the mornings you just grab and go. No need to fuss with lunches.
Stock Up On Basics
The first step to packing a fun and healthy lunch is stocking up on the basics. I hit my local Publix and stocked up on things I knew I would need to make lunch for the week including NEW Mott’s® 100% Juice Pouches, Mott’s Applesauce, Bread, Popcorn, Peanut Butter, etc. Getting a head start on packing lunch means making sure you have everything you need.
You can Stock-up on your lunch box supplies at Publix. From 8/24 – 8/30/17 you can get Buy one get one free on Mott’s 100% Juice 64oz, Mott’s 100% Juice Pouch 8 pk. 6.75oz and Mott’s Applesauce 6-pack cups.
Freeze Juice Pouches
One of my favorite lunch box hacks is freezing my kids’ Mott’s 100% Juice Pouches. They act as a cold pack in their lunch box, and by the time lunch rolls around they are cold and thawed enough to enjoy!
The new Mott’s 100% Juice pouches are my kids’ favorite! Mott’s juices taste good and are good for you. Each juice pouch of Mott’s 100% Juice provides 1 1/2 servings of fruit.
Pre-pack Healthy Snacks
On the weekends I have the kids help me pre-pack healthy snacks for the week. Pull out the zip top snack bags and a measuring cup and let the kids fill them with pretzels, popcorn, or trail mix. This makes grabbing and packing so much simpler during the week. Plus, you are saving money by packing your own.
Freeze Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches
Take a few minutes on the weekend to pre-make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Bag them and freeze them. On those days when you are in a hurry to pack a lunch, just grab a frozen PB&J, a bag of snacks, and a Mott’s Juice Pouch and you have a lunch!
Plastic Jam Containers for Fruit/Veggie Dip
Last year I bought a bunch of these plastic jam containers. They make packing salads, cut up fruits and veggies and easier! I put 2 tbsp of peanut butter or another dip in the bottom and top with cut fruit or veggies. The kids just open, dip and enjoy. The lids are spill-proof which makes them ideal for lunches!
