I love celebrating my kids’ birthdays! There is something so magical in their eyes when they wake up on their special day and see the house decorated just for their party! A fun and exciting birthday party does not have to cost a ton of money. You can affordably decorate for a kids party with ease! Check out these great tips!

7 Affordable Ways to Decorate for a Kids Party

Plan – First things first, you need to pick a color or a theme and stick with it! That way you have an idea of what you need to buy. You also need to know how many guests you are planning for so you don’t over or under purchase.

Dollar Store – Don’t hit the big box party store, hit the dollar store. You would be surprised at how many streamers, balloons, gift bags, confetti, paper goods, and party decor they have at just a dollar each. I always hit the Dollar Store first when we have a party coming up. It saves me tons!

Balloon Time Helium Tank – My kids love balloons! I mean, they flip for them, especially on their birthday. I don’t want to pay a florist or party supply store a ton of money for a balloon bundle. So, I buy a Balloon Time Helium Tank for birthdays. They are super affordable and I can blow up a ton of balloons right here at the house and they last longer because I don’t have to inflate them until I am ready for them. Plus the helium tank comes with the balloons so that is an expense saved.

Go Overboard – Ok, not with spending but with decorating have fun! You can never have too many balloons, too many streamers, or too much confetti. The kids love the fact that the house is covered in stuff to celebrate their big day!

Get Crafty – Not everything has to be store bought. Get crafty. Make a huge birthday banner, draw your own version of pin the tale on the donkey, or just pull out a bunch of craft supplies and let the kids get creative. Trust me, they love it!

Accent Piece – So you have saved money every way you can but your child really wants a “Insert their favorite character here” party.  Buy one big accent piece that doubles as something they can use later. My daughter loves dolphins. We did a bunch of Blue, white, and silver, and then got her a giant dolphin stuffed animal for the middle of the table. It served as party decor and then it was her’s afterward to play with. You can also buy action figures or small toys of their favorite characters to decorate the cake.

Have Fun – The biggest piece of advice I can give you when it comes to a kid’s party is just have fun. Unplug, unwind, and spend time with your child. The biggest gift of all is the gift of time, laughter, and memories.

I hope that these tips help you throw the best kids party for your family & friends!
