Heading to Universal Studios Florida Resort? Check out why you should try Confisco Grille in Islands of Adventure and how it stacks up to the competition.
We love Universal Studios Orlando Resort! In fact we became annual pass holders this last year and have really been enjoying exploring all the parks have to offer. I took the kids to spend the day last week and we found ourselves hungry and decided to try Confisco Grille in Islands of Adventure.
Why You Should Try Confisco Grille
All theme park restaurants are not created equal. Some of the restaurants are quick service and then there are some that are full service like Confisco Grille. From the minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. The whole restaurant has a fun theme full of imported “confiscated” items from around the park.
Not only was the ambiance cool, but the food in Confisco Grille far surpassed anything we had tried in the parks so far. My kids, were typical kids, and ordered burgers which are higher quality. Not the skimpy cafeteria style that you may find in the quick service locations. I ordered the Honey Ginger Salmon with Jasmine Rice. It was out of this world amazing from the presentation to the flavor. The portions were plentiful and considering this is a full service restaurant we were served very quickly from the time we placed our order.
I did watch as other tables were served and noticed that all of the portions and plates that came out looked equally amazing. I can’t want to go back and try something else.
My son is gluten free and has health issues if he has anything with gluten. We are always a bit nervous to try new restaurants. What brought us in to Confisco Grille was that there menu has several items marked gluten free. The server made a special note that his food was gluten free. They cooked his fries in a dedicated fryer. The chef changed his gloves and his burger was PERFECTION! They have much more than burgers on their gluten free menu. We have found if you go into any restaurant in the park and tell them your needs they are more than happy to get the chef for you.
In some of the restaurants in the park the service is spotty. Here in Confisco Grille that was not the case. Our server was quick to refill our drinks, check on our food, and go above and beyond while we were there. By the way, some of the in park restaurants don’t offer free refills on your drinks but Confisco Grille does! This is amazing on hot days! The drinks are also less expensive that in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, something to keep in mind.
The location is perfect. Right in the front of Islands of Adventure when you first enter the park and before you turn to head toward Seuss Landing. They are open for lunch and dinner and do except reservations on busy park days. We were there on a busy park day and we were able to walk right in for lunch around 1 pm without a problem.
For the service and quality of food in a theme park I found the price to be very reasonable! We have paid the same amount to eat in the Leaky Cauldron and not recieved the same level of service. Keep in mind, because this is a full service restaurant you will be tipping your server so that does add to the cost. However, I will say that I think the full service dining option is totally worth it when you are spending the day in the park. Sit down, take a load off and just enjoy the food and the experience.
If you aren’t looking for a full meal but you would like to give Confisco Grille a try they have a yummy looking dessert menu. Next time I may have to stop in and snag an order of Beignets. They just sound good, don’t they?!
