With three kids, hubby, and a dog there is always a running list on the side of the fridge with what we need from the store. It is the dreaded to-do that is full of what we need for the week and where I have to stop to get it. I could dedicate an entire day of the week just for running errands. However, I would much rather spend time with my family. I have a few tricks on how to cut errand running time in half!

Plan

The first step is planning. That list on the fridge is key to figuring out what you need. Make a checklist of all the places you need to stop, or what you need to get. I love to use this “A Latte To-Do” List while I am drinking my coffee in the morning. Making a list will help you devise a plan for getting it done efficiently!

Stock-Up

Now that you have a plan, it is time to see which of those items you can snag in bulk and stock up on to eliminate another trip next week. For example; If you see the same trip to get dog food recurring every week, maybe grab twice as much this week so you can eliminate it from next week’s list! Stocking up on what you use most just makes sense. Planning a stock-up schedule is one way to cut errand running time in half or even more!

Map it Out

Stop running back and forth all over town. Map out where all of your stops are and if the dry cleaner is next to your daughter’s dance lessons, drop off your dry cleaning on your way to dance. Doing this eliminates the need for a special trip, plus you are saving time and gas too!

One Stop Shop

You need groceries for the family, your daughter needs new soccer cleats, and you have to swing by the pet store to get your dog’s Nature’s Recipe Dog Food, and stop at the drugstore for allergy medicine. Why not eliminate the need for multiple stops and do a one stop shop at Walmart? This step alone can cut errand running time in half just by shopping for everything in one place. No more loading the kids in and out of the car just to grab one or two things.
