The Florida Aquarium Review
As you park in the Riverwalk area in Tampa and find your way to the entrance of The Florida Aquarium you are greeted by this giant sting ray statue! It is the perfect way to embarrass your kids by making them stand in front of it for a picture. Also known as a great photo opp!
Once you head inside there is so much to see and do! My kids immediately gravitated toward the touch tanks which are filled with anemones, starfish, and other small sea life.
There is an outside path that leads you through an area that is made to look like the Florida estuaries and wetlands. It is full of fish, birds, and other wildlife that would call that home. My kids loved watching the otters and seeing the fish up close and personal. These tanks and enclosures are spectacular!
Inside the tanks are just as breathtaking if not more so! You can walk through a glass tunnel and view sharks and fish swimming all around you. I could have just sat on the bench and watched for hours.
I love how The Florida Aquarium incorporates hands on learning opportunities for the kids. You can tell this is a kid friendly aquarium and they love to answer your questions and help you find exactly what you are looking for.
While part of the aquarium does have an outside walkway, there is much to see and do inside making this a great place to visit even on a rainy day. If you are lucky to go when the sun is shining bring a change of clothes and a towel for the outside splash zone for the little ones. They also have a great gift shop and cafeteria too if you get hungry.
We are lucky enough to have The Florida Aquarium right in our area. They offer some great homeschool programs and season pass offers for families. This is one place we will be coming back to often. There is always something new to see and a great educational way to spend a day.
I hope our Florida Aquarium Review helped you decide if this should be on your must see list while you are in Florida!
