Going to the grocery store and mindlessly paying for things we need has become surprisingly comfortable. The last time I bought green onions was over a year ago, yet I use them almost on a daily basis in my cooking? How is that possible you ask? I am going to tell you How to Regrow Your Green Onions. No green thumb required.

    How to Regrow Green Onions

I bought a new bunch of green onions for this post just to show you how it is done. They cost me about $0.99. I kept them in the fridge and cut the tops off to use them. Leaving about 1-2 inches of green and the white bottoms & roots intact.

I then took a small glass and filled it with water. I placed the cut onions in the water like pictured above.  No secret ingredients. Put them on the kitchen counter and walk away.

2 days later they look like this. They have already grown a couple inches.

4 days after they went into the water they look like this. Pudge is taking time to stop and smell the onions. LOL

At this point, I am comfortable with planting them. The roots have grown and the tops are definitely growing. Just use a pair of scissors to cut off the green tops you will use leaving the roots in the ground. They will continue to regrow for you to use time after time.

I have a HUGE Green Onion bunch like they that has been in a pot in my garden for over a year now and is still going strong. So....$0.99 = unlimited green onions! Love it
