Boneless chicken coated in corn starch.

Add cornstarch to a large bowl. Add the sliced chicken and use clean hands to fully coat each piece of chicken. You can also do this in a zip-top bag, shake-n-bake style.

Heat ½ cup avocado oil in a large saucepan on medium-high heat. Once oil is hot, add sliced chicken, working in batches if necessary in order to leave room between the pieces.

Gluten Free

Gluten free Mongolian chicken on white plate

I love this recipe because it is so simple. It is also easy to make gluten-free by substituting gluten-free soy sauce. Many stores carry it now, or you can find it on Amazon.

Tips

  • Pat your chicken dry before coating with cornstarch. This will help keep it from clumping.
  • Add a little ginger to the cornstarch for some more flavor.
  • Top your finished dish with sesame seeds, sliced green onion, or even red pepper flakes for an added kick.
  • Make some extra sauce and stir it into some asian veggies for a delicious side dish.

Serving

Looking for serving suggestions? This quick and easy meal deserves sides that are the same!

I love the store-bought frozen asian vegetable mixes. You can heat them and add some soy sauce for a quick side.

Also, a simple White Rice, or this Cauliflower Rice makes a perfect side too!

Storage

Store any uneaten Mongolian Chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
