We live in a busy grab and go world. Convenience is important to us when it comes to just about everything including our food. With new fall schedules on a roll it feels like we are always headed out the door somewhere, and everyone is always hungry! It is hard to keep the kids happy when they are hangry. That is why you should create a Grab & Go Snack Basket for kids.

The why is simple. We want our kids to be fed and happy, but it is nice to have control over their food choices. When you have a Grab & Go Snack Basket you fill it up at the beginning of the week with the items you want your child to choose from. There are no last minute runs into the gas station for a snack, or trips through a drive through because you are prepared. You have items set aside that you and your kids know are perfect for those busy day snacks.

The Grab & Go Snack Basket is also perfect when it comes to grocery shopping and planning. You can pre-purchase snacks for the week and know what you will need to have on hand to fill your basket. No surprises! It also makes finishing up those lunchboxes a breeze.

To create a Grab & Go Snack Basket you don’t technically even need a basket, although it is a nice way to start.  You can create a special lower shelf in the pantry, or get a small plastic tote. The idea is to have a designated place for snacks for your kids.

You can go one step further from snacks and add bottled water or juice boxes to your snack basket to just make your entire snack time that much simpler.  Take this idea and run with it. Create a small space in your fridge for perishable snacks that are safe for your kids to grab anytime.

The choice of what to put in your snack basket is yours! Choose things that work the best for your family. In our house, we fill our Grab & Go Snack Basket with things the kids love, like gluten-free pretzels, mixed nuts, tangerines, granola bars, and their favorite, Welch’s Fruit Snacks.

The entire family loves Welch’s Fruit Snacks and Fruit Rolls. Their first ingredient is fruit and they have 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A & E. I have been known to snag one out of the snack basket for myself when we are running out the door. Welch’s Fruit Snacks and Fruit Rolls are the go-to choice for on-the-go moms, and it is easy to see why.
