Trash To Treasure: Wood Toy Crate to Vinyl Sign
I was cleaning out my 7 year old’s room this week and she had all of her kitchen toys in one corner of her room. All of the Melissa & Doug toys, that we love, come in these great wood crates. That is perfect for storage, but we were trying to consolidate so everything went into a large plastic tote.
After I emptied the crates, I sat here looking at them because they are wood. I hated to throw them away. Then it hit me. Just like that I knew what to do.
I took them outside and sanded them down really good. Then I grabbed a can of spray paint and coated them really well.
I busted out my Silhouette Portrait and cut out some of my favorite designs out of vinyl. If you don’t have a vinyl cutter you can buy pre-cut designs online or at many stores. You could also use stencils to paint your choice of designs.
Either way, these signs turned out super cute. Any home store would have charged me at least $20 for a wood sign. I made these 2 for just pennies out of items I had on hand!
