You've seen them online and in stores. Learn How to use Wool Dryer Balls & find out if they work!

Saving time doing laundry is a goal everyone has! If you are on Amazon, Pinterest, or just browsing stores, you may have seen Wool Dryer Balls. You can get big ones, small ones, organic ones, but what do you choose? Let's be real. The big question is How do you use wool dryer balls & do they work?

How To Use Wool Dryer Balls

These could be the easiest to use tool in your laundry arsenal. Purchase at least a three pack of large ones, I feel like this is a good number.

All you do is toss them in your dryer with your laundry. The balls will cut your drying time up to 25%! Plus, they help fluff and soften your clothes! Take it one step further and add a couple of drops of essential oils to each ball for the added scent to your laundry. Reuse them for each load.

Where to buy Wool Dryer Balls?

I have seen these everywhere right about now. The most accessible place to buy them from is Amazon (see them here). They sell wool dryer balls in every size, color, and amount known to man. Go check them out.

Essential Oils on Wool Dryer Balls

As I was saying, you can add 3-4 drops of essential oils on your wool dryer balls for the added fragrance to your laundry. Kind of like how dryer sheets are scented, except the wool dryer balls and essential oils have no added chemicals and aren't wasteful.

The top 5 essential oils for your dryer balls are

    1. Lavender
    2. Orange
    3. Lemongrass
    4. Lemon
    5. Tea Tree (aka Melaleuca)

All of these smell amazing. I would have to say the lavender and orange are my two favorites!

    Do Wool Dryer Balls Work?

Ok, ok...so do these wool dryer balls work? Do they do everything that everyone says they do?

YES! I have been using them for over a month now, and the difference is enormous! My dryer finishes drying long before the washer ends with the washing. I have cut at least 10 minutes if not more off my drying time. The balls work by absorbing some of the moisture and helping lift and separate the laundry in the machine allowing your items to dry faster!

My clothes come out of the laundry soft and smelling fabulous. I am going to go out on a limb and say they are even softer and fresher than ever before.   I am such a big believer I just bought a second set of balls because the cat ran off with one of my others. LOL

    Benefits of Wool Dryer Balls

I have told you some of the benefits of wool dryer balls already but in case you missed it here they are.

    • Cut drying time up to 25%
    • Eliminate Static
    • Fragrance-Free
    • Eco-friendly and sustainable
    • Ability to add essential oils
    • Long lasting
    • Money Saving

I think everyone should have a set of these, but they are especially handy if someone you love suffers from eczema or allergies. These can be left completely fragrance free and will still help soften and cut drying times!

How long do wool dryer balls last?

You will want to replace wool dryer balls approximately every 1,000 loads.  If your dryer balls start to look scraggly or fall apart, it is time for a new set. It is also nice to have multiple sets of these wool balls on hand. You can add different essential oils to each set or dryer balls, or keep them fragrance-free.

Who would have thought that some simple wool balls could save you so much time and money doing your laundry all while making your clothes soft? Small fun tips like this are the kinds of shortcuts I love to share! Just like making your own Homemade Laundry Detergent! Have you tried it?
