Homemade Coleslaw Dressing

Backyard BBQ’s are a staple at my house. My husband loves to grill outside.  Many times a week I can look out the backdoor and see him at the grill, which leaves me in charge of the sides.  I love being in charge of sides.  The side dishes are the icing on the cake.  Of course coleslaw comes naturally with anything grilled.

I always make our own coleslaw dressing.  I have never bought store bought coleslaw dressing. Not that I think it is bad, it is just so much easier and cheaper to whip up a bowl of dressing and grab a bag of coleslaw mix at the grocery store. For a couple dollars I have a family size portion of coleslaw that tastes better than any pre-made you can ever buy.

Homemade Coleslaw Dressing

Prep time

Total time

Recipe type: sidedish, d.i.y.
Serves: 4-6

Ingredients
  • 1¼ Cup Mayo
  • 1 TBSP Sugar
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar
  • dash of pepper

Instructions
  1. Whisk all ingredients together, and pour over 1 bag of coleslaw mix.
  2. Stir together and allow to sit atleast 5 minutes before serving.

Whisk together all of the ingredients. I usually buy a small 8 oz can of pineapple tidbits for the juice.  Then the kids love to eat the pineapple bits.

Pour the dressing over a bag of shredded coleslaw. Allow to sit a few minutes and serve.

  1. Looks good! Any ideas of a healthy substitute for mayo? Maybe half of it Greek yogurt? We are on low fat diets.

  2. Oops! I tried to rate this a ’5′ and this crazy iPad selected 3 instead. Sorry!!
