If you have seen the new Harry Potter sequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, you know all about the Niffler. These cute little platypus looking creatures are drawn to valuables and stuff them into their little pocket. To call them ADORABLE is an understatement. The final Ornament on our cute Harry Potter Christmas Wreath is this DIY Niffler Christmas Ornament.
DIY Niffler Christmas Ornament
You Will Need
- Fillable Christmas Ornament (Any size but larger is better)
- Chocolate Gold Coins (or plastic if you want to reuse it year after year)
- Vinyl Cutter (Silhouette or Cricut)
- Black, Tan, & Gold Vinyl
- Niffler Cut File (below)
- Red Ribbon
How To
The key to this adorable ornament is the Niffler Cut File. Normally I can find what I am looking for on Etsy or around the internet, but not this time. I am proud to say that I drew and created this cut file on my own. I am not going to tell you how long it took this novice to create it but I have already used it for several projects and we are in love with how cute he is! You can get the cut file for FREE below, because something this cute should be shared.
I used a larger ornament so I cut this fella out about 3 inches by 3 inches. You want to cut him out in layers. So I cut the black first. Then, I cut the tan, and finally the gold. Once all of the colors were cut out separately I layered it.
You are obviously going to need a Vinyl Cutter to cut out this Niffler. If you don’t have one, chances are a friend will. Just ask them nicely and supply them with some vinyl. (Check out Expressions Vinyl. They are my favorite place to snag some great deals!)
Once your Niffler is cut out, the hardest part is over. All that is left is to apply your Niffler to your ornament and fill it with the gold coins. Add a ribbon to the top to hang it by, maybe a little bow, and you are good to go.
This would also be adorable with a name added to it, or a little saying. Don’t let your creativity stop here.
