Ingredients
OK…the intrigue! The two main ingredients that make these bagels are…
- Self Rising Flour
- Plain Greek Yogurt
You will also of course need your Everything Bagel Seasoning, or however you choose to top your bagels.
Also you will need
- baking sheet
- mixing bowl
- parchment paper or silpat
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or siplat and set aside.
In a large bowl, add the cup of self-rising flour and plain Greek yogurt. Stir until fully incorporated.
Did You know??
Depending on the moisture content of the yogurt used, you may need to make adjustments to get the right consistency. If your dough is too dry, add a little water until the dough is pliable. If your dough is too sticky, add a little flour until the right consistency is reached.
Shape the dough into a large ball and use a knife to slice into 4 even sections. Shape each section into a ball and place on the prepared baking sheet. Press each ball to flatten slightly and use your thumb to create a hole in the center of each bagel.
For optional egg wash: mix the egg and water in a small bowl. Brush the egg wash on the tops of each bagel and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
Place baking sheet in preheated oven to bake for 20 to 22 minutes.
Adjust the oven to the broil setting and allow the bagels to brown further for 5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow the bagels to cool before slicing. Enjoy with your favorite toppings.
Gluten Free
Yes, you can make these bagels gluten free. Simply use your favorite gluten free flour blend. I also recommend adding in about 1 tbsp of Baking Powder to help with the rising. That is what is in self rising flour that helps give it a lift after all.
Storage
Store any uneaten bagels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Can keep longer in the fridge and if frozen.
Other Flavors
If you aren’t a fan of everything bagel seasoning you can make these 2 ingredient bagels plain, or top with other seasonings or even mix-ins.
