Easy Royal Icing Recipe
Decorating a gingerbread house but need royal icing? Check out this easy Royal Icing Recipe that you can make in about 5 minutes.
Royal Icing is one of those things that can be intimidating. I am not really sure why that is. This Easy Royal Icing Recipe will do the trick and takes only about 5 minutes to mix together. I have used it to hold together gingerbread houses and make candy decorations for cakes and cookies. It always turns out amazing!
You can use meringue powder in place of the egg whites, but I have made it both ways and it turns out great!
I was also recently asked about the egg whites and any concern over them not being cooked. The egg whites are what causes the icing to harden. People have been making Royal Icing this way for years with no problems. Things like meringues are also made this way. So, I guess if you have some reservations I would recommend using the meringue powder instead.
This icing is also great for sugar cookies. Make it a little thicker for the border icing and add a little water or milk to thin it out for the flooding icing. WORKS PERFECTLY!
