Stars & galaxies have always been so dreamy to me. I love that my daughter is in awe of them as much as I am. We decided to pull out our supplies and get crafty today, not fully knowing what to expect. What we ended up with is this beautiful and fun Glow in the Dark Stained Glass Craft for Kids. It is Galaxy Art!
Glow in the Dark Stained Glass Craft for Kids
You will need
- Elmer’s Glow in the Dark Glue
- Blue & Purple Acrylic Paint
- Picture frame (Your choice of size)
- Paint brushes
How to
This project is fun and easy too! We opened the picture frame and removed the glass. Some come with plexiglass and this is fine too. Obviously you are going to want to keep a close eye on smaller children around glass.
Squirt the Elmer’s Glow in the Dark Glue on your glass. We used more than one color. There is not right way to do this. Just have fun. The more glow in the dark glue you use the more your art will glow when you are done. We mixed blue, yellow, and pink for a fun swirling effect. My daughter used a paint brush to spread it out over the glass. Let it dry completely.
Once the glue is dry lightly paint over the glue with blue and purple acrylic paint. Just a light coat will do. You can really choose any colors you want, but we were going for a galaxy art effect. Let the paint dry.
Once the paint is dry, add the glass back into your frame. Only put the glass in. When I put ours together I did not includ any backing. I wanted the light to be able to shine through this. The picture frame I used is from IKEA and it has a shadow box effect which is PERFECT for this project. The frames are pretty inexpensive too.
Hang your Galaxy art on the wall and enjoy! The Elmer’s Glow in the Dark Glue has glitter in it too which really makes this look mystical!
When you turn the lights off at night you will be wowed again with this great Glow in the Dark Stained Glass effect! This makes a fun sleep over party craft project!
