Here we go again.  So I got my Keurig 2.0 in February 2015. I told you guys all about it and what I thought of it compared to my Keurig B145. Right now, I have my Keurig 2.0 in my office, and this morning I rolled over for a fresh cup of coffee. When I popped in the k-cup, and it didn’t sound right. It started brewing slow, then it made too much coffee and overflowed my cup. ~sigh~ I knew it was time, so I thought I would show you How to Clean Your Keurig 2.0.

Now I told you How to Clean Your Keurig before when my old brewer wouldn’t make a full cup anymore.  This process is similar, but there are some changes you need to know about before you begin.

First, you are going to open your Keurig 2.0 and look for this piece where you put the k-cup. It pops out easily for you to clean. Take it to the sink and wash it well with warm soapy water. Be super careful because there are sharp needles inside.

Then you can wipe out the inside with a clean cloth. Again be careful because there are sharp parts on this machine. Now that the machine is apart and you have a wet towel go ahead and wipe off the outside of the machine to make sure it is clean.

Reassemble your Keurig. Now you are going to put 1 cup of vinegar in your reservoir, and fill the rest with water. Run the hot water cycle as many times as you can with no k-cup in the machine until the reservoir is empty. Of course, it will not drain completely, so dump out the rest of the vinegar water. Fill with fresh water, and then run some more until you have run a full reservoir of clean water through the machine. You want to do this to make sure there is no vinegar left inside. Just be warned vinegar coffee does not taste so good; it is a fact.

  1. I never really knew that you were supposed to clean your Keurig until mine started making half cups. I’m so glad I found this post because my poor, used and abused coffee maker was DISGUSTING! Thank you for this post

  2. I’ve been on Pinterest for the past two days trying to see what I can take off of the machine to clean it. Looking at several tutorials. Finally you’ve shown me. This worked perfectly, thanks so much. Now my coffee tastes fresh again!

  3. Thank you for posting this. I just followed your step-by-step guide and it worked perfectly. I also love the Folgers Vanilla Biscotti coffee-which I hadn’t ran out!

  4. Thanks !!!! GREAT and simple steps to follow. Machine is spic and span, and ready for more many rounds of coffee, hot chocolate and tea 🙂

  5. Thank you. I purchased my 2.0 at a yard sale for $2.00 brought it home following your directions for cleaning. Working wonderful. Lady sold it because it made half cups. Her loss!

  6. Thank you!!! Discovered lots of yuck from hot chocolate in our machine. Thank goodness we didn’t use tap water otherwise it would have been so hard to clean ‘cause our water is very hard.

  7. It wasn’t mentioned, but it’s a good idea to leave the filter out when you’re doing the vinegar cycles, and then reassemble with the filter afterward. Otherwise, your filter will hold the vinegar taste.
