Cheap is fun, but FREE is even better!
How to Find Vacation Freebies & Deals
1. Stop in at the visitor’s center.
The Visitor’s Center should always be your first stop! When you arrive at your destination, search out and visit the visitor’s center. Chances are you will find free maps (cool for framing!) and coupons waiting for you. The attendant on duty can also help you with any free events taking place in the area.
2. Contact the CVB of the destination.
The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau can hook you up with all sorts of freebies and offers. A simple Google search can put you in touch with the CVB in the area you are visiting. Just send a quick email and ask what offers may be available. Chances are they can give you some type of coupons or vouchers to local attractions.
3. Follow local bloggers.
See if there are any lifestyle bloggers in the area you are traveling to for your vacation. If so, give them a follow. See if they have recommendations for free things to do in the area such as concerts, museums, shows, or other events of interest. Travel bloggers, in general, may have an idea of cheap or free things to do in most areas, so do your homework and search these experts out!
4. Head to the internet.
Before setting sail for your destination, ask family and friends on social media if anyone knows of any freebies in the area. You can be surprised with deals that can include shows, concerts, and points of interest. The internet always seems anxious to help!
5. Get those first-time visitor freebies!
Some venues, eateries, and points of interest will give first-time visitors a special gift. Take advantage of these offers! Make sure when you visit new destinations people know you are traveling there for the first time. Even Disney World gives a free pin to first-time guests!
6. Know your freebie status!
Some attractions give senior and student freebies. When you travel, make sure you know your freebie status. Search out places that provide free entrance/gifts/discounts to students, children under 3, seniors, military, and even teachers.
7. Head to Google.
Do a simple search of Free+Stuff+In+DESTINATION. You should be able to pull up free offerings in the area. You might have to play around with keywords a little bit, but in no time you should be able to find a few deals.
It can be expensive to travel, but the good news is there are always freebies lurking around the corner! Consider these tips on how to find vacation freebies & deals, and see how simple it can be to have more fun for less cash!
