Dr Pepper Cookies

dr pepper cookies

Pinterest is going to be the death of me.  I sit here in the evenings and see all of these mouth watering unique ideas, asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”.  I have seen an assortment of goodies with chocolate, caramel, cookies, cakes, you name it….I think it has been pinned.

A couple of fun recipes that I have found were Dr Pepper Cake and Cookies made from a cake mix and a can of soda.  But I haven’t seen Dr Pepper Cookies. So, I thought, why not?  I got in the kitchen and made a mess.  The kids thought I was some sort of mad scientist, but when they saw the results they were in awe, and frankly so was I .  Who knew you could get a cookie from 1 cake mix and a can of soda.

Yes, you can use Diet Dr pepper. I am sure this works with other sodas, but I haven’t tried.

  1. So, do these taste like chocolate cake or Dr. Pepper?

  2. Think you could use vanilla cake instead of chocolate?

    • Ashley – I just made them with a box of yellow cake mix because that’s all I had. I added 2 – 3 T of Hershey’s cocoa powder to make it chocolate-y. They turned out pretty good but next time I’m going to add chocolate chips instead of the chopped pecans.

      • ooh let me know how they turn out with the chocolate chips. i was wanting to make them with the chocolate but didnt know how it would taste.

  3. I made these today. I used a german chocolate cake mix and diet cherry dr. pepper. They turned out really good. The only thing is, I had to cook them for about 15 minutes or they were still too soft to lift out of the pan. Think I might try an orange cake mix with diet orange sunkist.

  4. Christy says:

So just the cake mix and dp?

  5. My husband drinks nothing but DP so I am going to have to give these a try for him! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  6. the glaze measurements don’t seem right.

  7. So just cake mix and Dr. Pepper? No eggs or anything that goes with the cake mix??

  8. I am going to make these without the glaze and send them to my husband overseas. I hope he loves them. Thanks for the recipe!

  9. Can you make them with yellow cake mix without adding cocoa powder? For someone who doesn’t like chocolate…would they taste bad?

  10. I have the funfetti cake mix and that’s all but would that taste bad with diet cherry dr pepper?

  1. [...] Dr. Pepper cookies- I made these because I scored a 2 liter Dr. Pepper for $0.20 last week and wanted to make these. I used Devils food cake mix (the recipe says any chocolate cake mix, and thats what I had on hand). Not to be gross, but these turned out like little piles of poo. I am going to attempt again with another, regular chocolate cake mix. Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:LikeBe the first to like this.
