Easy Candied Pecans

The delicious smells of warm cinnamon and sugar around the holidays can only mean that these Easy Candied Pecans are getting ready to make their seasonal appearance.  Now that I think about it, I am not sure why they only make an annual appearance, because they are delicious any time of year. This simple yet fantastic treat is so tasty and can be enjoyed in so many ways. They also make a perfect homemade gift!

How to Make

candied pecans

When I say these are easy I mean it! Just preheat your oven to 250 degrees F. In a small bowl whisk your egg white and vanilla until frothy.

Put your pecans in a medium bowl and pour over the egg white mix. Now, toss in the sugar and spices and give the pecans a stir to coat them well.

Spread them out in an even single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. If you don’t have parchment use a Silpat, or aluminum foil. Something that will help you make clean up easier.

Bake them for about an hour, stirring every 15 – 20 minutes so they cook evenly.  Remove from the oven and allow them to cool a little before enjoying it.  Added bonus your kitchen now smells INCREDIBLE!

Other spices

When it comes to these pecans, you really can’t go wrong. Try mixing things up in the spice department. Stir in some nutmeg or a little clove. Go crazy and make a sweet heat kind of pecan and stir in a little spicy pepper to kick things up. Play with this recipe and make it your own.

Storing

Candied nuts can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for one week, in the fridge for three weeks, or in the freezer for two months. I keep mine in a resealable glass jar or a mason jar.

Uses

Ok, so if you can stop snacking on them long enough to use them for other things, you are better than I am.

Just joking, but they are great alone or…

  • salad topper
  • muffin topper
  • mixed in oatmeal
  • added to a fruit salad for some crunch
  • and so much more.

Gifts

If you want your friends and family to think you give the best homemade gifts, pack some of these candied pecans in a jar. Tie on a cute holiday gift tag, and you have given them a fantastic gift! Share the recipe so they can make their candied pecans to refill the jar year-round.
