Easy Homemade Ketchup
This recipe makes me excited. We are slowly trying to step away from store bought “convenience foods” at my house and make more diy. I am finding that it is so much better for us and cheaper than purchasing organic. I know what my family is eating…. No more mystery ingredients or chemicals which makes me so happy!
Ketchup is one of those foods that we buy by the truckload at my house. My hubby has an un-natural addiction to Heinz Ketchup and it goes on EVERYTHING. My kids have followed in their Daddy’s footsteps which means ketchup pretty much is on our table 24/7. On those rare occasions that I don’t have a back up bottle in the pantry I make this easy homemade ketchup, I am slowly trying to serve them more homemade ketchup and less store bought. Plus, it is so easy to make….I can have it on the table in minutes.

I gathered my ingredients. I used Apple Cider Vinegar instead of plain white because that is what I had on hand. I also doubled the recipe. I tossed everything in the pot and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
I then moved the ketchup the a bowl on the counter to cool enough to bottle and put in the fridge.
I love these squeeze bottles I found at the dollar store. Perfect to store my homemade ketchup!
Awesome!! I will be trying this soon.
I never considered making my own ketchup until now. This sounds very easy and I have the ingredients on hand already! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I’d like to know what your husband thought of it. Yeah, Heinz baby! lol
LOL Lacey, He said it was an ok substitute. He is a Heinz addict for life. ROFL
Thank you for sharing!! We switched from Heinz to Trader Joe’s brand and that is awesome!! I’ll have to try this recipe because, like your family, ketchup goes on almost everything!!
Interesting – I never thought of making ketchup! How long do you think this will keep in the fridge?
Samina,
Because of the vinegar, it should last a couple months if stored in the fridge.
