How to Make Funfetti Mug Cake
Mug cake is a beautiful thing. You literally mix all of the ingredients up in a mug and give it a stir. In this cake I found some adorable little mugs that look like ice cream cones at the Target Dollar Spot. They are the perfect size for mug cakes! You can use any mug you choose.
Once all of your ingredients are in your mug and mixed up well, just pop it in the microwave for 1 minute. Let the magic happen and when it beeps you will have an adorable mug cake.
Top with frosting and of course…extra sprinkles!
Skipping gluten is important for so many, and you can totally kick it to the curb in this recipe. Just use your favorite gluten free flour mix in place of the all purpose flour in this funfetti mug cake. Right now I am loving this King Arthur Gluten Free Flour Blend. I have had really great luck with it.
Other sneaky places you may find gluten are in your vanilla, sprinkles, and baking powder. Just double check your ingredients before you start to make sure there isn’t any gluten lurking.
Hey Vegans! I see you and I know you are always looking for new easy recipes too! This mug cake is vegan friendly when you use a vegan milk. My personal favorite is coconut milk, but you can make this with any dairy free milk. Also, double check those sprinkles.
Topping a mug cake is super easy. You can go the simple route and used whipped cream or you can use real frosting! I always vote for real frosting, but that is just who I am. Funfetti Mug Cake Recipe
- 4 tbsp all purpose flour
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp sugar
- 3 tbsp milk dairy or vegan
- ½ tbsp vegetable oil
- ⅛ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tsp sprinkles
- In a microwave-safe mug, add flour, baking powder, sugar, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix with a small whisk until batter is completely smooth.
- Stir in 1 tsp of sprinkles. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 tsp of sprinkle on top.
- Cook in the microwave for about 1 minute.
- Let cake cool a few minutes before eating. Cake is best right after it has cooled.
- Top with Frosting or whipped cream and more sprinkles if desired.
- Substitute Gluten Free Flour and double check that your other ingredients are gluten free.
- Use a dairy free milk.
it was very good it would have been better if it had one 1/4 tsp of almond extract

It was really delicious! The cake turned out really fluffy and flavourful even though I had to substitute some ingredients. Unfortunately the sprinkles dissolved while mixing them with the batter 😉
