I have been hearing a ton of amazing things about Goat Milk Soap. Goat milk soap has been on my radar for a while now because it is supposed to be wonderful for people with dry or sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also perfect for healthy skin that wants to stay that way. Hey, I am all about healthy skin. So I decided to gather what I needed to make my own Lavender Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap.
I did decide to spice my soap up a bit instead of just making a straight Goat Milk Soap. My Goat Milk Soap has Lavender added because of it’s soothing and calming properties and Oatmeal for its exfoliating properties. My daughter and I intend to start using this as a facial soap. The store-bought facial cleansers are really rough on our skin.
Lavender Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap
What you will Need
- Goat Milk Soap Base
- 1/2 cup dry oatmeal
- 1/4 cup dried lavender flowers
- 5-6 drops lavender essential oil
- soap mold
First, you are going to cut up your soap base and melt it down. There are two ways to do this; in a microwave, or over a double boiler. I went for the double boiler method. I have heard the microwave method can dry out the soap.
Once your soap base is melted mix in the oatmeal, lavender, and lavender essential oil. The measurements above are suggestions. They are what I used, but feel free to add as much or as little as you want. This is your custom soap.
Finally, you are going to pour your mixture into your soap mold. Allow the soap to sit until it is set. DO NOT put it in the fridge or freezer to speed this process up. It will crack the soap.
When the soap has set you can pop it out of the mold. Wrap it for gifts, or store it for your own personal use. This Lavender Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap is some of the best soap you will ever use!
