Things to Do at Washington Oaks State Gardens Park – St Augustine, FL
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is one of our favorite places to explore. It is located off of A1A in St Augustine, FL. Admission to the park is $5 per car. We like to go in the winter or early spring. During the summer there can be a lot of mosquitos, so bring the bug spray!
We like to take the kids on the walking trail. It’s only 1/2 mile and it helps everyone stretch their legs. Plus you can see some great florida wildlife.
The trail ends back up near the Matanzas River. A perfect place to watch the birds, fish, and just soak in the sun!
Our next stop is the gardens. The kids love to look at the koi fish in the pond. It is so relaxing to just take a quiet stroll through.
Of course nestled in the gardens are fun things like this little fish statue that my daughter just loves!
My kids also love to stalk the citrus groves. I am pretty sure they are hoping a snack fall from the trees, but it is fun to walk through.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a garden without some gorgeous plants, and flowers. The closer we get to spring the more breathtaking it becomes!
Last but not least, across A1A is another part of Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. The beach. You get pristine view of the Atlantic ocean, coquina rocks, and sand dunes. This beach is great for sun bathing, but I would recommend swimming due to the rocks. It’s a great place to go for a walk and take pictures.
