Are You Kidding? Cake
I love fun recipes like this so much! I was stumbling around the world wide web the other night and I saw a recipe for Are You Kidding Cake. It totally intrigued me and got my attention. So, I clicked and looked. 1 cake mix, 1 can pie filling, 3 eggs. That is it! Nothing more, nothing less! Thus the name are you kidding? People just don’t believe it can be that easy.
Well, I forgot where I saw it, so I am sorry I am not giving credit where it is due. However, the recipe was so easy to remember I wanted to give it a shot. So I got out a Lemon cake mix and a can of blueberry filling. Sounded like a great combo. I mixed them up, tossed them in the oven and twiddled my thumbs for about 25-30 minutes. The batter was thicker, almost like a brownie mix, so I was expecting a dense cake. I was astonished when I opened the oven to find this fluffy moist cake! Are you kidding?? ~giggle~
The cake is fluffy, moist, and not a bit crumbly. You can put frosting on it, but it is great without. Perfect to pack in a lunchbox. I will be making this cake again in a gazillion different combos. I am so excited to find new flavors to try. If you don’t have a cake mix, try this Homemade Cake Mix Recipe.

Notes
This sounds great. Are you using a 21 oz can of pie filling – the usual size you see for pie filling? It sounds like alot but if it works I’m all for it. Thanks!
I just made this with peaches and spice cake! Worked great! 😀
My family has made this for years! Use as much or as little pie filling as you want — or dont even use pie filling! I actually use homemade peach jelly with yellow cake or homemade applesause with spice cake! When its done, poke little holes with a fork all over the cake, then drizzle with powdered sugar glaze … YUMMY!!
Do you omit the oil and water from the cake mix or do you make the cake according to the pkg directions and just add the pie filling into it?
You just omit. All you need is the cake mix and the pie filling. 🙂
Made a cherry chocolate fudge bundt cake with chocolate frosting. It was awesome! Cook it on 350 for about 45 minutes and it makes the perfect bundt cake. Mix frosting according to Hershey’s cocoa powder box and oooooh boy! It’s very light & fluffy.
Made this the with a can of pumpkin pie filling, tossed in some raisins and nuts… super!
