Fried Apples Recipe – Just Like Cracker Barrel
Cinnamon and Apple are two classics flavors that come together in such a perfect way in this Fried Apples Recipe! These are just like the ones from Cracker Barrel!
Fried Apples are amazing! They are one of my favorite quick ways to enjoy apples as a side dish. They are also one of my favorite things to order from Cracker Barrel ~swoon~! I love to use up apples that are starting to get soft or turn. Waste not, want not. Honestly, they make some of the best skillet fried apples. Check out the recipe and exactly how easy it is to make them!
Best Apples
First things first. The apples. You are going to want to start with a firm apple. Granny Smith’s and Braeburns work perfectly.
Like I said above you can use any type of apple. I like using apples that are starting to go south anyway. This gives them a great use and they don’t have to be perfect.
How to make fried apples
Making friend apples is so easy and quick. Simply clean, core and slice your apples.
Melt your butter (or alternative) in a cast iron skillet (any skillet will really do). Add in your brown sugar and spices and stir to combine. Take in the beautiful aroma that is butter and cinnamon cooking in harmony.
Add the apples and cook until tender. Serve them either warm or at room temperature, that is up to you. That is it! Less than 30 minutes to apple happiness!
Vegan
Apples are vegan but butter isn’t. Don’t you wish butter was vegan? I do. LOL There are some great vegan butter alternatives you can use in place of the butter that will make this recipe vegan and your fried apples will be just as delicious!
Storage
Store any leftover fried apples in an airtight container in the fridge.
I am not trying to tell you how to live your life, but they are amazing heated up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Just sayin’
